Agriculture is the backbone of rural livelihoods, yet thousands of small and marginal farmers struggle with inadequate irrigation, water scarcity, climate change, declining soil fertility, and limited access to modern farming techniques. Through the Sustainable Agriculture initiative, CERDS is committed to improving the productivity, resilience, and income of farming communities by promoting sustainable agricultural practices and providing essential farming support.
Our initiative focuses on strengthening irrigation infrastructure through bore wells and open wells, developing water conservation and storage structures, and encouraging efficient water management practices that ensure year-round agricultural productivity. We also support farmers in adopting horticulture cultivation to diversify income sources and improve long-term financial stability.
CERDS actively promotes environmentally friendly farming by encouraging Organic Farming, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), and Integrated Disease Management (IDM), helping farmers reduce production costs while protecting soil health and biodiversity. To minimize post-harvest losses, we distribute tarpaulin sheets that help farmers safely dry and protect their agricultural produce from unexpected weather conditions.
In addition, we organize farmer exposure visits, technical workshops, and capacity-building programs where farmers learn innovative cultivation techniques, climate-smart agriculture, soil conservation, and sustainable farming practices from successful agricultural institutions and experts.
